Riffraff’s storefront opened up in February of 2009 when owner, Kirsten Blowers was just 21. Kirsten started selling her refurbished and hand-painted furniture, but quickly expanded to include clothing and small gifts.  As the popularity of Riffraff grew, more and more people began to call and ask if they could order over the phone and have their items shipped. Riffraff began selling new arrivals via our facebook page and coined the term “run and ship” through their huge facebook following. Kirsten then decided it was time to take the business online. In 2012, launched and it was an instant success.

"In February of 2009, while I was still a senior in college, I opened Riffraff with only $100. Many critics thought opening a small business amidst a recession was a terrible idea – and don’t get me wrong, it was not easy – but with hard work and a lot of resilience, I turned this dream into a reality. One relocation, five renovations, and ten years later, I employ over 30 young women all under the age of 27! Together, we work extremely hard while still having a positive and fun atmosphere in the workplace. I love this business and all the trials and triumphs that have come along with it. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for it. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and this crazy idea I had 10 years ago." - Kirsten
